Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of our most frequently asked
questions. If you have a question that is not answered below then please
call us on 0845 643 7820 we will be happy to discuss any questions that
you may have.
How can Action For Debt
help me?
We look at all areas of
your finances this way we can suggest the most suitable way to tackle your
debts. There could be various solutions to your debt problems together we
can choose the best.
What will happen
to my credit rating?
If you
have a debt problem it is likely that your credit rating will already be
affected. Creditors will register your account as being in default if you
are unable to meet the original terms of the agreement. This will be noted
on your credit reference file and the information will normally be held on
your file for a period of 6 years.
Is my home at risk?
It is always our priority at Action For Debt to ensure that
your property is not at risk and allowances will be made within your
income and expenditure to keep up the payments on any mortgages or loans
secured on your property. Providing you do this then there is no reason
why your property should be at risk.
What happens if my
circumstances change?
Please let us know if anything
unforeseen happens whilst you have an arrangement. Depending on the
situation we should be able to re-negotiate your offers with creditors. We
will always undertake an annual review with you and adjust your level of
payments if necessary.
Are there any rules I must abide by?
Our only rules are very straightforward; we simply ask that
you stop using your credit facilities and do not apply for any further
credit. The reason we say this is because we do not want to add further
creditors at a later date as your original creditors are unlikely to be
willing to negotiate if they know you have continued to spend on further
credit facilities. The most sensible advice will always be to be straightforward and tell the truth. |
